Almost a Spring Day
The day began in a beautiful pink and blue hue.
I planted some roses in the cottage yard, in between the cherry trees I planted last year. I won't be able to see them from my house but the cottage tenant will enjoy them...and I can always visit...we've become friends over the years.
They don't look like much now but by summer they will have beautiful flowers that look like these...
I can hardly wait!
This teapot is brewing flowers not tea...
Ready to pour out a cup of Spring blossoms.
That day was a few sunrises (and sets) ago but I wanted to share it with you today for tea time.
Blessings,
It wasn't a typical February day...but I guess it's becoming more typical of our temperamental California weather.
A high of 74 was predicted.
On the deck, in the shade of an Ivy, it topped off at...
As I worked (spreading ground cover) in the yard it felt more like 74!

I didn't mean to get side-tracked and forget to have tea...I just had it a little latter than usual, and I was ready to sit down and enjoy a break from gardening.
No time for anything fancy, just some Cranberry & Ginseng Herb Tea (I like the pretty color).

Doesn't having a cup of tea (or coffee) give a nice relaxing change to the day? A time to reflect on what has already been done, and what is left to accomplish.
While nibbling on something...like warm Cranberry White Chocolate Scones on mixed-matched china.

Back outside I see signs of life peeking out from the ground, happy to see the sun. The daffodils are coming up!
The Daphne in the front yard is blooming.
Its flowers have a very sweet fragrance. Each cluster looks like a miniature bouquet.
And the camellias are ready to burst open!
Spring is just around the corner and I feel it coming.
"Awake, north wind, and come, south wind!
Blow on my garden,
that its fragrance may spread abroad."
~ Song of Songs 4:16
The day ended as it began; in brilliant color!

Vintage Things
Every day as I travel to and fro from my house to who knows where, I pass this truck. It always catches my eye...always! I think it's adorable. It's just the bones of what it used to be many a time ago, but here he sits, still telling a visual story of yesterday as he meets the passer-byes of today. Oh how I wish he could speak and tell us of the trips he traveled and the passengers he carried.
It seemed that anything she planted grew...and grew...and grew. My thumb?...not so green, but I think I share her green heart.
"He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly,
and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully"
2 Corinthians 9:6
These pictures were taken last year. Sadly, there are not many flowers blooming yet...but soon!
I have to admit that I am a little impatient. God is working on me in that area. Isn't He good to give us these beautiful gifts of flowers? He gives them to us in the form of seeds, so we will learn to sow them, wait for them to sprout and grow and bloom. In doing so, we learn to be patient. Sometimes I cheat myself and skip the seed and sowing part...go right to the flowers!
But I have tons of seeds from last years flowers...so maybe I should let patients have its perfect work and plant the seeds and wait.
"He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food
will supply and multiply your seed for sowing
and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
2 Corinthians 9:10

This is Oliver. Do you see his name tag? He's another visitor from the past I drive by occasionally. He doesn't get around much anymore, but I can imagine he was a hard worker in his younger days.
Don't know this guys name but I'm pretty sure he was also part of the working class. He might know Oliver because they live on the same street. I would like to think they are the best of friends.
I put this vintage doily in a picture frame so I won't soil it, and I use it for a serving tray. That way it can be displayed without being damaged. I plan to add handles to the sides but haven't decided if I like this frame or want to get a different one. A vintage one would be nice.
I'm using it today for my tea tray.
With everything on my tray... outside I go!
